A SITE meeting to tackle flooding in Beetham is to be arranged.
Beetham Parish Council was told "severe and rapid flooding" is happening regularly in the road beside the village war memorial.
Councillors heard the floods were fed by water flowing down Leighton Beck Road due to blocked drains further up the road. They agreed keeping the drains clear was a high priority and they agreed to arrange a site meeting with Cumbria County Council highways officers and the parish steward.
The parish council also heard drains in Storth had been blocked by fallen leaves, resulting in flooding.
Meanwhile, remotely controlled flood warning signs have been suggested to alert drivers travelling along the B5282 road to Sandside.
In other news, Beetham's Cumbria in Bloom 2020 group is planning a newsletter to keep villagers up to date. Also, Beetham's church bells are to be rung for the VE Day anniversary on May 8.
The annual Beetham parish assembly is to be on March 19 at Heron Hall, Storth, at 8pm.
