LOWTHER Castle will be throwing open its garden gates for free on Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21, from 10am to 4pm.
The attraction near Penrith is holding the Community and Future Volunteers' Days to show visitors just how much work has been achieved at the castle and gardens by volunteers.
Entry to the castle, gardens, exhibition and adventure playground will be free, provided people book tickets in advance no later than midday on Wednesday, March 18, at www.eventbrite.co.uk
Volunteers will be on hand to talk about projects such as establishing a bee colony and planting a wildflower meadow - and to encourage new volunteers.
