SEEING the recent letters regarding climate change leaves me disappointed at the lack of common sense.

This is crippling the prospects of this country and making us the whipping boy for the rest of the world.

If this country had zero emissions the climate would not change one jot.

Carbon dioxide, which is blamed for climate warming, has only a volume share of 0.036 per cent in the total atmosphere. And, of this, 95 per cent comes from natural sources such as volcanoes or decomposition processes in nature.

The human CO2 content is only 0.0016 per cent of the atmosphere. Britain’s contribution is only one per cent of this: 0.000016 per cent. What difference would it make if we had zero emissions? None.

Greta Thunberg and her young activist supporters seem not to realise they are beneficiaries of all the scientific advancements made possible thanks to the Industrial Revolution, which they seem to decry. She is fostering mass hysteria.

The future contributions of this generation are looking bleak if their only interest is in protest and veganism. Greta is filling these young heads with unnecessary stress and anxiety, as if they didn’t have enough already.

Climate protest detracts from the real problem which none of these activists acknowledge, that of world population explosion. The young generation uses a disproportionate amount of technology that requires large amounts of the Earth's resources they seem so against. This increases as the population increases. Ask them to give up their latest mobile phones and they will have a meltdown.
