CAR parks are provided to get vehicles off the streets so to avoid congestion and for safe parking; as such, providing a public service.
Unfortunately the management company controlling the Cartmel Racecourse car park appears to be more interested in profits rather than providing a service (Letters, February 13, 'I won't park there again'). The sadness is that not only is it affecting parkers but also businesses, shops and the Priory church in Cartmel.
The statement by the spokesperson with regard to registration plates is beyond belief, for you only have to drive a few miles down the road to Barrow where car parks only require part of the registration plate. In Ulverston you do not need any!
