Pubs and clubs in the Turton area have joined forces to launch their own Pubwatch Scheme.

The scheme, which mirrors the national model, has been set up to assist licensees, staff and customers enjoy a safer environment.

The members' premises all fall within the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) area of Turton and the group are sending out a strong message to troublemakers; banned from one, banned from all.

Commenting on the launch of the scheme, GMP Licensing Officer PC Andy Vernon said “We are delighted to see that launch of another Pubwatch Scheme in the borough. GMP will be working alongside all member premises to help fulfil their licensing objectives and support the scheme to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

Adding his support to the launch, Leader of Bolton Council, and Councillor for Bromley Cross Councillor, David Greenhalgh said” I am an absolutely delighted that my area is truly embracing the Pubwatch Scheme.

"We have a vibrant offer of licensed premises in the area from restaurants, clubs and wine bars, to micro, themed and traditional pubs.

"I served on the Council’s Licensing Committee for over 10years, and to have these premises working together to make the experience for the customer, and the area safer, is fantastic!”

Local MP Mark Logan said:“As Bolton North East’s MP I’m very encouraged by the new Pubwatch scheme as it shows how seriously our licensed premises take their duty of keeping the public safe”
