A WEATHER warning has been issued for East Lancashire with heavy expected tomorrow and on Thursday.

With rain fall totals of between 70 and 100 mm, The Met Office has warned of the possibility of flooding and travel disruption.

The yellow warning is for areas covered by Blackburn with Darwen and Lancashire County Councils.

A Met Office spokesman said: "An Atlantic weather system arriving on Wednesday is expected to bring a further spell of rainfall which is likely to become heavy and prolonged over areas of high ground in parts of northwest England.

"Rainfall totals of between 70 and 100 mm are possible during the period.

"Given the saturated nature of the ground this may lead to some flooding.

"Rain likely to be heavy, especially over high ground, during Wednesday and Thursday which may lead to some flooding and travel disruption.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

"Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services

"Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures."
