BURNLEY have completed the signing of Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill.

The 24-year-old former Preston North End man has has joined for an undisclosed fee and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract – with the option of a further 12 months.

“It’s a really good feeling to be at Burnley. It’s a big football club with a great fan base,” he said.

“Every time I’ve played here it’s been nice to play at Turf Moor and I’m really excited.

“I can’t wait to put on the shirt and play football. Whenever I get the chance, then I’ll be ready to take it.

“I’ve always wanted to get to the top. It’s been mine and my family’s goal ever since I played football as a kid.

“I’m thankful to Burnley for giving me that opportunity and I am going to take it.”

Seen as one of the top talents in the Championship, Robins captain Brownhill has made 161 appearances for the club and will be getting his first taste of the Premier League.

It means it is one in, one out for the Clarets in the middle of the park during the January transfer window with Danny Drinkwater’s loan spell having come into an end.

Brownhill’s arrival from Ashton Gate comes with striker Nahki Wells heading in the opposite direction.
