A BARROW pensioner has been remanded in custody after being charged with harassing his neighbour.
Michael Cooper, of McClean Close, is accused of harassing Carl Butler on a number of occasions between December 2019 and January of this year.
The 66-year-old is alleged to have stuck up his fingers in a 'v' sign at the complainant, shouted abuse through his front window, and is also accused of shining a laser light through his front window.
Cooper appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court in Barrow on Wednesday from custody after allegedly breaking the conditions of his bail by leaving fat balls to feed the birds on the victim's property.
He was arrested by police on January 15 for the alleged breach.
District Judge Gerald Chalk directed that Cooper should be remanded in custody.
Cooper, who was represented in court by duty solicitor Maureen Fawcett, has pleaded not guilty to harassment.
A case management hearing will take place at the same court on January 23 ahead of a trial.
The judge said Mr Butler can give evidence to the trial via a live video link after hearing an application for special measures.
