A FULL closure of a main road in East Lancashire is now required so major junction works can progress.
Major delays have been caused by the project to improve Rosegrove junction, in Burnley.
But engineers have managed to keep all four adjoining routes open until now.
However from next Monday, Accrington Road, leading to Hapton and junction nine of the M65, will have to close for the second phase of the scheme.
Road chiefs say a large number of services and utilities now need to be rerouted, including major fibre communication and broadband cables, gas, water and electricity pipes.
County Cllr Keith Iddon, highways and transport cabinet member, said: "We are trying to minimise disruption as far as possible while these improvements are delivered."
Access to homes and businesses will still be retained, it has been confirmed.
