A COMMUNITY group in Blackburn has launched their prestigious community champion award nomination for 2020.

The One Voice Annual Dinner will celebrate the eighth anniversary of the organisation, set up in 2011.

In its seventh year, the dinner will take place on Saturday, February 22 at the Windsor Suite, King George's Hall.

Nominations are now open for the Young Person of the Year, Institute of the Year, Man of the Year and Woman of the Year.

Performances on the annual dinner night will include pop group Banned, from West End Girls - One Voice Blackburn, as well as a drama performance and singing by the Scouts Choir.

Zaffer Khan, chief executive officer, said: “The annual dinner is a wonderful evening with so many inspiring people gathered together in one room.

“We are looking forward to celebrating some of the best work in the community with the 1V community Champion Awards.”

Closing dates for nominations is January 17, with a shortlist announcement on January 27, 2020.

The winners will be announced on the evening of the Annual Dinner.
