A TEAM of pet detectives are helping a couple find their missing cat.

Rachel Porter and her husband Jonathan own Tigga the cat who went missing from their home, near Colne.

They enlisted the help of Animal Search UK’s Pet Detective Team - the only official uniformed missing pet search team that operate throughout the UK on a 24 hour, seven days a week basis.

They claim to have a 70% return success rate for missing pets.

Tigga went missing five days ago, and it is thought he may have been spooked by a firework.

They are unsure which direction he fled so the team were called in to conduct a thorough search of the area.

Lead Investigator Andrew McNair said: “Most missing pets are found within a mile of home, the challenge is making sure that as many people as possible know the pet is missing and encourage everyone to be vigilant and to keep an eye out.

“It’s a difficult search as the area is very rural with lots of difficult terrain to cover, we will be searching lots of outbuildings as well as the forested areas in case Tigga has gone to ground or is injured in any way.”

“Work and family commitments often mean owners don’t have time to devote scouring the area looking for their missing pet, and this is why Animal Search UK is a huge help."
