Valenine treats at Crown Paints, Darwen in 1991
ROMANCE was in the air and on the plates on Valentine’s Day 1991 when the canteen staff at Crown Paints in Darwen put on a special love-themed menu.
The staff from Gardner Merchant who ran the canteen even donned fancy dress as two of history’s most romantic couples - Adam and Eve and Nora Batty and Compo from Last of the Summer Wine when head chef Anthony Liddy unveiled the menu which included sweetheart soup and exotic sounding flights of fancy for pudding.
