A PICTURESQUE Lancashire borough has welcomed more than four million visitors for the third year running in 2018.
The latest county tourism statistics confirm Ribble Valley's popularity.
They also reveal that tourism generated more than £260million for the borough economy last year, an increase of 7.3 per cent on 2017, better than the Lancashire-wide increase of 3.8 per cent.
The official statistics confirmed that the number of visitors to Ribble Valley rose by 300,000 on 2017 and topped four million for the third year running – an increase of 7.6 per cent compared to a county-wide increase of 1.7 per cent.
They show that the visitor economy generated 3,454 full-time equivalent jobs, a six per cent increase on 2017.
Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Stephen Atkinson said: “These figures are great news for the borough and reflect another year of sustainable growth in the local visitor economy. Tourism is a key part of our economic strategy."
