After celebrating with their families, the scenes of joy moved to the dressing rooms, where there were jubilant chants and sing songs.

And there were big smiles as coach Justin Holbrook was soaked with a water bucket by Alex Walmsley.

The celebrations continued on the team bus and went long into the night around town, with some of the triumphant squad joining supporters in town centre nightspots such as the Imperial.

Fans got to have their photographs taken with the trophy to wrap up a memorable weekend for Saints fans.

Gerard Arms landlord Mark Hayes said: "It was absolutely brilliant and a treat for everybody.

"Dave Howarth, who organises all of the Saints coaches from the Gerard, got the nod that the trophy would be here in half an hour.

"It was brilliant, they stayed for a few hours which was really good, it was a full day of it.

"To have Justin here, it's not just what he has done for the rugby club but the town. It was great to have the opportunity to tell him that and to have a pint with him as well.

"We had 1,200 people on Grand Final day going on 23 coaches from here.

"There was a great celebration when the coaches got back and it was a good day all round.

"The whole day was fantastic."
