A REVIEW will be carried out by commissioners into how they deliver the area's Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) service.

Clinicians from Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group are appealing for anyone who has used the service to come forward, give their views and be patient representatives on the project group.

The service is currently delivered across the two areas, Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire separately, so the CCGs are bringing in together as one “Pennine” service.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that develops within a deep vein in the body, usually in the leg.

Commissioners said the views of patients who have used the service can help shape how it should be delivered in the future.

The review is expected to take around nine months and the project group meets once or twice a month.

Patient representatives would not need any medical knowledge to be part of the group, as they are representing the views of patients and their families.

Dr David White, clinical lead for the two CCGs, said: “The view of patients is very important and we want them to help us “co-produce” the new service in the future. It is already a very well regarded service but we want to make it even better.”
