WORDSWORTH Trust celebrates National Poetry Day at a poetry party with special host Kim Moore tonight (Thursday, 7.30pm). Dove Cottage poets also meet today (Thursday, 2.30pm) at the Learning Space. For further details telephone 015394-35544. 

THE Fellowship season starts today (Thursday, 2.30pm) at St Oswald’s Church with a short service and a talk entitled Deserts and Dams by John Biggs, followed by afternoon tea. Future meetings will take place at the village hall on the first and third Thursday of every month until March.

HARVEST FESTIVAL takes place on Sunday, October 6 (11am) will be taken by the new priest-in-charge the Rev David Wilmot, followed by a choral evensong (4pm) at St Oswald’s Church. 

SPRINGTIME in the Isles of Scilly is the title of an illustrated talk by popular speaker Dr Patricia Howell, on October 10 (2pm) at the WI meeting at the village hall.

THE local history society meets on Tuesday, October 9 (7.30pm) at the Jerwood Centre, to discuss progress on the fascinating 50 significant Grasmere buildings project.
