A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was hit by a car and suffered an ankle injury.

The incident took place at 6pm last night on Whinney Hill Road in Accrington.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We were called at 6pm where there was a collision between a boy and a car.

"The boy suffered an ankle injury and was taken to hospital.

"No arrests have been made over the incident."

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I was just driving down and saw it.

"I really do hope the little boy is okay.

"There should be a zebra crossing on that road and hope that he is ok."
