A CUSTOMISED Yamaha motorbike that was stolen from outside a house was later involved in a crash with a car.

The bike, which belonged to Liam McGlinn, was stolen in the early hours of Wednesday morning from his Bonsall Street home in Mill Hill.

Later that day, officers contacted Mr McGlinn to say his bike had been found.

He said: “I had a call off the police saying my bike had been found having been involved in a serious road traffic collision.”

The incident, which involved a red Ford Fiesta happened on New Lane, Oswaldwistle, on Wednesday afternoon.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a serious collision. It involved a car and a motorcycle. The road was closed for three hours.

“A male who was on the motorbike was taken to Royal Preston Hospital. The bike involved had earlier been reported stolen.

“An 18-year-old man from Accrington was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

Any witnesses can call police on 101, quoting log 811 of September 11.

Mr McGlinn added: “I would just say to think twice about taking someone’s bike and riding it like that.

“I’ve worked hard for that bike to have it end up in a pile in the middle of the road.

“I’m just glad the driver and his two kids in the red car are okay.

“And I just want to say a massive thanks to everyone who tried their best to help me get my bike back, it means a lot.”
