Volunteers, including schoolchildren, turned out in Haslingden to tackle the growing number of rubbish dumps in the town.
The clean-up of the area known as the 'bad lands', took place in 1969, in a push to clear beauty spots such as the Grane Valley that had been used as dumping grounds by do-it-yourself decorators.
