A volunteer community group that looks after a town's park is gearing up for the Heritage Open Days.
Friends of Bold Venture Park are taking part in the 25th anniversary of the National Heritage Open Days initiative next week.
Over the weekend of September 21 and 22, some special events will be taking place at the Ashton Kiosk (now known as the Scout Hut), on Manor Road, Darwen.
The Kiosk was originally built in 1902 as a tea-room for visitors to Bold Venture Park.
And in time for the weekend, Friends of Bold Venture Park are aiming to re-create a feeling of the original atmosphere with staff dressed in period clothing, a display of historic photographs of the park, classic cars, vintage and live music and, of course, tea, coffee and an array of delicious homemade cakes.
Earlier in the year, the volunteer group held a photographic competition.
The winning photographs of scenes from Bold Venture Park will be featured in their full colour 2020 calendar, which will be on sale over the Heritage Open Day weekend.
A spokesperson for the group said: "We received a proof copy from the printers yesterday and it’s looking fab.
"We’ll be launching it for sale at the Heritage Open weekend and will be stocking it in other outlets in the not too distant future."
