THE reveal date for the DIY SOS Big Build for Nightsafe has been pushed back by five days.

Renovations on the old St Silas Church hall on Preston New Road, Blackburn, were due to be wrapped tomorrow, with the big reveal taking place on Thursday.

However, crew and volunteers taking part in the project for a BBC Children in Need special, due to be aired in November, have come across some minor bumps in the road.

A DIY SOS spokesperson said: "Despite the huge number of volunteers and trades who have generously donated their time and materials, the build was more complex than originally thought and will consequently take slightly longer to complete; as such, the reveal date has been postponed until Tuesday September 17.”

In addition to this, the team are still looking for a number of decorators and window fitters to help them put the finishing touches to the new accommodation block, which will provide beds for vulnerable young people across the borough.

Anyone who can donate a few hours of their time is asked to head down to the site or email diysosblackburn@bbc.co.uk

The big reveal will take place on Tuesday, and organisers are asking people to come to the entrance of St Silas Church, Preston New Road, at 10.30am.

Unfortunately, there will not be any designated parking areas so people are being asked to park safely nearby and be mindful of the local residents and businesses in the area.

They are also reminded not to park in either the mosque or catholic church car parks.
