AWARD winning actress Julie Hesmondhalgh is to give a one-off, solo performance to raise money for Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre and Theatre,
Accrington-born Julie performed at the Civic many times as a teenager before her career took off and has written a piece celebrating those early days.
Best known for her roles as Hayley in Coronation Street and in Broadchurch, Julie will also be taking part in a question and answer session with the audience.
Emma Holden, events manager at the Civic said: “We approached Julie to see if she could help with our fundraising appeal and she came back with the idea of a one-off show.
“She is not taking a fee which is brilliant so all proceeds will go to keep the Civic up and running.”
Earlier this month the venue applied for a £30,000 cash injection from Hyndburn Council after a spate of cancelled bookings cast doubt on its future.
Julie Hesmondhalgh will perform at the Civic on Sunday, November 3. Tickets are now on sale from 01254 398319 or www.civicartscentre.co.uk
