A KIND-HEARTED couple have raised money to thank the cancer ward of a hospital.

Brian Hodgkinson was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2014, and to mark five years from the start of his chemotherapy, him and his wife Lynda Hodgkinson donated funds to be spent in the Chemotherapy Unit at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Mr Hodgkinson said: “We wanted to raise the money as a ‘thank you’ to the staff on the chemotherapy unit for caring for me so well."

The couple are into a rock 'n' roll and have always enjoyed dancing, finding places that were doing dances from their era.

It saw them go to dances, weekenders and on rock 'n' roll holidays both in England and abroad.

They continued to do this even after the start of Mr Hodgkinson's treatment.

As part of their fundraising, the couple have held charity rock 'n' roll nights.

Mr Hodgkinson added: “We want to show that life can go on after cancer and you can take the opportunity to enjoy your new and precious life.”
