LYMM High School has praised its pupils for bagging top results despite the pressures surrounding exam performance.
More than 30 per cent of students gained grades 9-7, the equivalent of the old A*-A grades, with a quarter bagging at least one 9 (an A**).
Almost 90 per cent of students passed English and maths qualifications, in the highest results to date.
Head teacher of Lymm High School, Gwyn Williams, said: "We usually try not to get too carried away with ourselves, but that’s proving quite difficult; these are the best results the school has ever had, by some distance.
"What feels particular satisfying is that these results were not unexpected; they are in line with predictions and build on the rapid improvements of the past few years.
"A lot of hard work from a lot of people sits behind them.
"I cannot praise the students or staff highly enough for the way they have approached the new GCSE specifications over the past couple of years.
"There is more pressure than ever around exam performance and everyone has responded brilliantly. I could not be more proud of them."
Some of the high achievers from the school included Hannah Maudsley-Barton who achieved six 9s, three 8s and an A*.
She will be staying on to study maths, further maths, chemistry and physics with Lymm Sixth Form.
Hannah Coy will also be studying at sixth form after she received three 9s, two 8s, two 7s, two 6s and an A.
