NEW inside and outside lights are being planned for Stainton Institute, near Kendal.
South Lakeland District Council has been asked to approve 27 lights at the Grade II-listed village hall, a former Sunday school.
The community is backing the plans, state planning documents. The nine outside lights are designed to improve safety and security.
The design of the lighting is described as "sympathetic".
As reported by the Gazette, members of Stainton Institute expressed their delight after landing a £20,000 grant towards renovation work on the building.
The money was part of the Locally Important Projects funding from SLDC.
