Police are calling on the people of west Cumbria to think back and try to remember if they have seen a 91-year-old man who has gone missing from Workington.

Officers say information from the public – who may have seen Jed Doran – could be crucial in finding him.

Jed was last seen in the area of Garnet Crescent, Salterbeck, Workington, at 5pm on Thursday (July 11).

Extensive searches involving police and partner agencies have been carried out since he went missing.

Officers are again calling on the public to help them as they search for Jed, stressing any information – no matter how small – could prove vital.

Sergeant Harley Young said: “The public’s support and any information they might have could play a big part in our search for Mr Doran.

“We would urge everyone to think back to their movements since he was last seen and think about whether they might have seen him.

“Jed is 5ft 8ins tall and was last seen wearing grey trousers, a grey cardigan and a flat cap.

“We really need people to think about the last two days and whether they might have seen him.

“We are also asking people to check their outbuildings and sheds.

“We would also ask Jed, if he sees this appeal, to get in touch.

“Anyone with any information - no matter how small - should contact police on 101.”

Searches have included:

Coastguard searches of the shoreline.

Scans with a thermal camera by a helicopter crew from the National Police Air Service.

Numerous searches of land in and around Workington involving police dogs.
