SIZERGH Castle, near Kendal, is appealing for people to donate good-quality second-hand books to its bookshop in the Great Barn, behind the visitor reception.
The National Trust says the barn is one of the earliest examples of a two-storey bank barn in Cumbria. All money raised from book sales will go towards conserving items stored there, such as a Maltese boat, fire ladder and farm equipment.
