A FAMILY have been reunited with their pet dog - less than a week after she went missing.

Jemma Calvert made an appeal earlier this week in the Lancashire Telegraph for help to find her two-year-old jet black Pug Poppy.

She disappeared from the garden of her house on Rothesay Road, Shadsworth, Blackburn, last Friday afternoon (June 28), with the family believing she had been stolen.

But she was found safe and well in Preston by a woman and was returned to the family on Thursday night (July 4).

Delighted owner Mrs Calvert, who lives with husband Simon Calvert and their three children Chloe, Simon Jnr and Tyler, and has a 13-year-old Staffie called Teela, said: "After seeing the appeal in the Lancashire Telegraph, the woman who found Poppy contacted us at 7.30pm on Thursday.

"It was then arranged for the family to meet her at Morrisons in Preston and pick her up.

Poppy is now happy back in the family home.

The 32-year-old added: "I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal on social media and helped look for her, as well as thanking the woman who found and returned her.

"We will be forever grateful.

"Everyone in the family was in tears and we are delighted to have her back."
