CONGRATULATIONS to 16-year-old Jos Arnold in her efforts to stop the feeding of rubbish to the birds at Bowness Bay (Gazette, June 27, 'Please don't feed the ducks, pleads Jos, 16').
It would help if local shops stopped selling 'duck food'. It may be that this is more nutritious than bread and chips, but it would be better if the birds were not encouraged to congregate.
I recently saw a group of swans attacking a parked car, in which an elderly lady and her dog were attempting to get out to have a walk.
It was also a sad sight to see two swans sitting outside Tesco in Bowness.
Good luck to Jos in her attempts, and with her A level studies.
