A MAN sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash that has closed the A44 near Woodstock today.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after the collision between a motorbike and a car near the Duke of Marlborough pub at about 8.30am.

Several police cars, South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Air Ambulance have been on the scene this morning, as the road was closed and diversions put in place.

The road reopened about 1pm.

The ambulance service received a call at 8.33am, with one crew, an ambulance officer and an emergency care response unit all attending.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance's critical care unit was also required and accompanied SCAS to hospital with the man.

Thames Valley Police tweeted a photo showing three of its cars at the scene, while traffic is was diverted along the B4437.

Stagecoach tweeted that its S3 service was also being diverted through Wootton and Glympton and warned passengers to expect delays of up to 50 minutes.

Drivers were warned to avoid the area, with one Twitter user on the road estimating delays of at least 25 minutes earlier this morning.
