A 37-YEAR-OLD who had talked of killing himself and had made a noose carried out his threat, an inquest heard.

Ryan Hammond, a father-of-one, was found at his home in Redearth Road, Darwen, on the evening of March 31, by his partner Stacey Wane and his father, Philip Hammond.

The inquest was told that Mr Hammond was a happy and popular man, but struggled with anger and stress which was made worse by alcohol.

Giving evidence, Mr Hammond said he was aware his son had made threats to take his own life but never thought he would follow through with it.

He said: "He sometimes said he'd had enough and wanted to do himself in. Either that or he was going to end up hurting someone."

Miss Wane told the inquest that she and Mr Hammond had separated a few weeks before his death but were trying to work through things and had gotten back together.

She said on the weekend he died she had been in Blackpool and when she hadn't heard from him at all on the Sunday, she and Mr Hammond went round to the house and found his body.

Despite toxicology reports showing Mr Hammond had alcohol and cocaine in his system, and a postmortem examination declaring no struggle or sign of external injuries; and despite police being satisfied the death was not suspicious, Mr Hammond's family believed that someone else had been involved on the day he died.

Miss Wane said that in the weeks leading up to Mr Hammond's death, she had been stalked by a man from Manchester, who had threatened to kill Mr Hammond and harm her family, which she had told the police about.

Miss Wane believed that her partner of 13 years would never have taken his own life. She said because one of the windows in the property was open, Mr Hammond's mobile phone was missing and his front door key never found, she questioned whether the findings portrayed the whole truth.

However, coroner Simon Jones said that the presence of a letter, which was found in the kitchen and past instances where Mr Hammond had threatened to take his own life, coupled with him making a noose and keeping it in the house, showed intent.

He said: "From the view of the police, the situation is that there's no evidence identified of any third party involvement.

"Ryan Hammond was found dead in his house after hanging himself.

"My conclusion is suicide."
