A BENEFIT cheat has been ordered to do unpaid work after deceiving the Department for Work and Pensions.
Burnley magistrates heard how Caroline Terri Holt had dishonestly failed to promptly notify the DWP that her earnings from employment had increased which affected her entitlement to Carer’s Allowance between November 2016 and February 2018.
The court was also told how 52-year-old Holt, of Roebuck Close, Blackburn, also failed to notify Blackburn with Darwen Council that her earnings from employment had increased which affected her entitlement to housing benefit.
Holt pleaded guilty to two counts of benefit fraud.
She was made subject of a 12-month community order and told to carry out 65 hours of unpaid work.
