A FATHER has told of his anger after a woman drove into his 12-year-old son and left him to walk home by himself while injured.

Lee Lawless said his son, Cameron, was left “shaken and in pain” after he slipped off the kerb in Bolton Road, Darwen, near the Texaco garage and a black Audi hit him on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Lawless, 35, said his son was clipped on the shoulder and the driver got out to speak to him.

However Mr Lawless said he was angry the woman did not do more to help and drove away when she realised his son was not in serious trouble, despite having a sore arm and feeling nauseous.

Mr Lawless said he took him to Royal Blackburn Hospital for a precautionary check over and doctors said there was bruising to his shoulder.

He said: “My son was walking home from school on the same side of the garage and slipped off the kerb.

“The black Audi caught him on his left shoulder.

“This has left my son feeling quite shocked and he says he feels sick and has a sore arm.

“I am obviously upset about it all as I feel she could have done more to help him.

“She could have asked where he lives or for my mobile number.”

Mr Lawless said he rang the police and is enquiring with Texaco garage and residents in Bolton Road about CCTV in a bid to identify the woman.

He said: “She did stop and ask how he was, but he was in shock and just wanted to go home.

“She made no attempt to help him.

“We live in Sydney Street just up the road so it would not have taken her long to walk him home.

“I kept him off school yesterday to recover and plan to take him in today.”

A police spokesman said officers were contacted about reports of a boy who had been involved in a collision with a car and suffered minor injuries.
