THIS picture from 1989 reveals the major summer exhibition at Towneley Hall in Burnley.
The event commemorated the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of World War Two by examining the home front in East Lancashire.
Air-raid warden items, such as the rattle, whistle and helmet were on display at the exhibition.
A film called The Civil Defence was shown to depict a response from the wardens to a mock incident.
For those who wanted more history, a book, Wartime in Burnley and Pendle was also published during the time.
