POLICE cordoned off a part of a town centre following an 'incident' between a man and a woman in the early hours of Monday morning.
At around 12pm on Monday, police were seen to have cordoned a section of area by St Cuthbert's Church in Darlington.
A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "Police are investigating an incident between a man and a woman which is believed to have happened in the early hours of the morning of June 17 in St Cuthbert’s Churchyard in Darlington."
The cordon was in place along the Stone Bridge side of the churchyard, and across to the church building, while the south side of the churchyard was unaffected.
