A MAIN route into Blackburn will be partially closed for resurfacing.
Lancashire County Council is carrying out repairs to the Grane Road between today and Friday with diversions put in place.
A partial closure will be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm between now and Friday afternoon, though the council's website showed work was originally scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
The road will be closed between the Grey Mare Inn on Elton Road, Belthorn, and the junction of Holcombe Road in Haslingden near the Holden Arms.
The road on either side of the closed section will be operating as usual.
Signs warning motorists of the closure can be seen along the road.
The stretch of road is a key commuter route in East Lancashire, used by thousands of motorists a day.
Drivers heading towards Blackburn will be sent along Deardengate and Warner Street in Haslingden onto the A680 Manchester Road and Blackburn Road then along the B6236 Hud Hey Road, Roundhill Road, Haslingden Road and Haslingden Old Road onto Lottice Lane then coming out the other side of the closure at Elton Road.
A council spokesman said the working hours were off-peak so as to minimise the impact on traffic.
