A BURGLAR who broke into a home and stole two sets of car keys and a handbag has pleaded guilty to his crimes.

Mathew Alexander Ferguson appeared at Burnley Crown Court via video link from Preston Prison on June 4, his birthday.

The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, one count of theft and one count of fraud by false representation.

The court heard how Ferguson had entered 24 Billington Avenue in Rawtenstall on December 12 and stole two sets of keys, one set for a Mini Cooper and another set for a Skoda Superb.

He then admitted to stealing the Skoda Superb, but not the Mini, while also attempting to withdraw cash from a bank card he had stolen from inside the house.

He will be sentenced on June 7.
