A COUPLE who came to East Lancashire just three months ago have established a disabled-friendly holiday experience.

Paul and Tina Wise, uprooted from Berkshire to Weir, near Bacup, to be nearer to their undergraduate children.

Aaron, 21, is studying physics at Liverpool and his older sister Maria, 23, is just coming to the end of a five-year veterinary course.

And as part of the pair's fresh start in the north, they have opened up Doals Farm Leisure, a self-contained holiday let, which is soon to offer alpaca treks, with plans for a small caravan and camping site alongside.

The Wises had their eye on the farm since 2017 - but at the time the property was under offer.

Retraining as an electrician after 33 years in IT, the couple were in the process of selling their Berkshire home when they noticed The Doals was back on the market.

Paul said: "It was as if someone was looking after us. The previous sale on this had fallen through so we put in an offer.

"We are members of the Camping and Caravan Club and we looking into having an area as a certified site."

The pairing has already settled into the local community, joining Weir Pride and helping to run a deaf awareness course at The Doals community centre with local Ayesha Gavin.

Tina added: "The community here is fantastic and we have made more friends in the short time we have been living in Weir than the six years we lived in Lambourn."
