THE bassist of legendary punk group The Undertones has been lined up for an appearance in Blackburn.

Michael Bradley, a founder member of the Derry five-piece, is taking part in An Evening With The Artists as part of the town's children's literature festival.

Bradley, 59, has published his own biography, Teenage Kicks - My Life As An Undertone, and will take part in a book signing on June 18 at Liz N Lils, in Northgate, from 7pm.

He will join festival organiser and children's author Christina Gabbitas, Rappaman writer Donavan Christopher and Blackburn-based Nigel Womack, who made his debut earlier this year with The Angry Giant.

Andy Seed, who has penned the All Teachers trilogy, storyteller Salma Zaman and illustrator and author Liz Millin, are also set to feature.

Youngsters are still being encouraged to take part in a poetry initiative, as part of the festival, before a June 10 deadline, for the chance to win a signed David Walliams book, among other prizes.

Entry to the artists event is £7.50 and bookings can be made online at www.childrensliteraturefestivals.com
