A RARE opportunity to join the hunting, shooting and fishing set has cropped up on the fringes of East Lancashire.

But to join the countryside elite you’ll need to have £2.75million or so burning a hole in your back pocket.

That is the price tag for the Whitemoor Estate at Salterforth, near Barnoldswick, according to property agents Savills.

Complete with its own reservoir, with a fishing lodge, the sprawling pile is set over 890 acres.

One portion of that is given over to Moor Laithe Farm, which could be ripe for redevelopment.

Farm agent Will Douglas said: “The setting of the estate is simply spectacular, with a unique boathouse making the most of a stunning outlook across the reservoir.”

The five-bedroom boathouse serves as the main accommodation. There is also the three-bedroom Standing Stone Gate Cottage, which is already let out.

Just over 710 acres has shooting rights, which have been operated on a “low-key basis” to date, with the Canal and River Trust responsible for the maintenance of the reservoir.
