ESTATE agency Humberts has acquired a well-known Kendal estate and lettings agency.

Scott Bainbridge was set up by Kendal-born Iain Bainbridge when he was facing redundancy as a property solicitor.

Iain, who has multiple sclerosis, ran his independent agency from Kendal's Market Place with his wife, Hannah.

He said: "We are extremely grateful to all who have supported the business over the years and excited at the new opportunities that joining forces with Humberts will secure."

Iain said he had always found Humberts "refreshing to deal with" because it was a company that embraced the future while keeping "what is best of the past".

Iain said he was "excited at the prospect of becoming part of a larger, better resourced business".

Estate and lettings agency Scott Bainbridge had always sought to be "pro-active, principled and professional", said Iain.

He added: "According to our independent Google customer reviews we have a solid track record of securing great results for our clients and customers alike.

"I have been thrilled we have been able to raise significant amounts of funds for great causes, especially local hospices."

Iain will remain as a consultant, sharing his expertise of the local property market with Humberts' Lake District team.

The Kendal office in the Market Place will close immediately and business will continue from Humberts' Windermere office at Low Cleabarrow Business Park.

Humberts said acquiring the Scott Bainbridge business had helped cement the expansion of its Lake District property portfolio.

"With our focus on expertise and service, it’s business as usual in the Lakes," said owner Matt Spence, "and we are delighted to bring Scott Bainbridge into the fold, as one of the industry’s leading players in the North of England.

"We are particularly thrilled that this grows the lettings side of our business by 15 per cent."
