Albion have yet to receive permission from Swansea to open talks with new manager target Graham Potter.
The Argus understands that, contrary to reports elsewhere, the Seagulls are still playing a waiting game at the time of writing in securing access to Potter.
The situation is complicated by Swansea having American owners, Jason Levien and Steven Kaplan, based on opposite sides of the country.
Potter will bring his backroom team with him from the Liberty Stadium if he is appointed.
Chris Hughton's No.2 Paul Trollope and coach Paul Nevin were axed along with the manager yesterday morning.
