IT is not as though Hall and Oates really need any introduction - after all they are the biggest selling duo of all time.

But following a spirited and enjoyable set by KT Tunstall - what a voice that girl's got - the big screens at the arena started to play clips from Live From Daryl's House, Daryl Hall's regular TV show in which he jams with big names from the music business.

Then as the house lights dimmed, the big screens and backdrop to the stage gave brief snatches of the labels of many of their hits over 40 years; each one bringing a cheer from the audience.

The big build up and the welcome to the stage were more akin to a Las Vegas residency than an out and out rock concert and that relaxed, warm feeling lasted throughout the show.

This was Hall and Oates very much in their comfort zone. The fans, many of whom had clearly grown up with their songs as a soundtrack to their lives, loved every minute of it.

Backed by a stellar band who didn't put a foot wrong all night, we were treated to hit after hit. From the opening chords of Maneater it was song after song which you knew - Out of Touch, She's Gone, I Can't Go For That - they were all there.

Daryl Hall's voice remains as strong as ever, capable of some sublime soulful moments. At his side, John Oates displayed he's a mean guitar player and his trademark harmonies helped bring the memories flood back for many in the crowd.

After being together for so long there is a relaxed vibe between the two on stage - you can sense that each instinctively knows what the other is thinking or is going to do next.

Hall sat behind a grand piano to allow Oates to take centre stage with the bluesy Is It a Star and throughout you got the feeling that although they no longer have anything to prove, they were thoroughly enjoying making music in front of such a receptive crowd.

Rich Girl, Kiss on My List, Private Eyes and You Make My Dreams provided a singalong, dance-along encore and then it was all over. At just under 90 minutes it was maybe a bit shorter than some fans would have hoped for but every minute of it was quality.
