THIS PICTURE depicts the tragic day of the Hapton Valley pit disaster which killed 19 miners on March 22 1962.
It happened in Burnley as the explosion ripped through the Union Seam at Hapton Valley Colliery that morning, where a further 20 people were left seriously injured.
Hapton Heritage have since unveiled a stone on Hapton Recreation Ground Peace Garden this year. An annual remembrance service for the lives lost in the mining disaster was also held in March.
The mine closed and was demolished in 1982. It was one of the biggest mining disasters in the country.
