I AM mystified by the report in the Bury Times last week quoting that our hard-up council spends £30,000 a year on car parking permit schemes for staff (Car park charges could help tackle overspend).

Surely this is incorrect? Or is it that those on the highest pay are benefitting from this perk?

Is this morally right?

A wages bill for half a dozen recently appointed council officers cost Bury £1 million . . . now this . . . what an insult to the lower-paid council staff and the tax payers of Bury.

Can I suggest that £30,000 would be better spent employing two part-time dog wardens who could help clean up our streets across the borough and create income by implementing heavy fines?

That’s what people want, but is the Labour Leadership listening?
