COMEDY comes to Blackpool this summer with some of the best known names in stand-up having been announced for the Livewire Festival.

The opening night of the four-day festival will be a celebration of British comedy.

Appearing on Thursday, August 22 will be Jason Manford, Alan Davies, Mark Watson and Chris Ramsey. The laughter spectacular will be held next to the famous Comedy Carpet on Blackpool’s seafront.

The festival organisers said: “This is the first time we’ve had comedy at the festival, and there’s no better place to host it than right by Blackpool’s iconic Comedy Carpet.

“At Livewire we’re always trying to bring some of the biggest names in entertainment to Blackpool, and we feel like we’ve definitely succeeded with this incredible line up.”

Lauryn Hill has already been announced as headliner for the Saturday night and the festival rounds off with From Movies to Musicals featuring West End stars Kerry Ellis, Ben Forster, John Owen-Jones and Ruthie Henshall.

The Friday night headliner will be announced soon.

Tickets for the comedy night go on sale at 10am on Friday, April 19 from www.livewirefestival.co.uk
