TWO women believed to be ‘travelling criminals’ are wanted in connection with a theft in a town centre market.

Images captured on CCTV show the two women at the counter of a stall in Darwen Market on April 12.

Police believe the pair could be ‘travelling criminals’ who are committing sleight of hand offences in small businesses up and down the country after similar appeals were launched by officers in Worcester, Leicester, Wolverhampton and Lichfield.

After issuing an initial appeal after the alleged thefts, police officers released a second statement which reads: “Information has come to light to strongly suggest that the females in question are travelling criminals who are committing sleight of hand offences in local businesses.

“Please can local businesses be extra vigilant as they may still be local to Blackburn and Darwen.”

They also attached a flyer to their appeal picturing women committing similar offences in other parts of the country.
