A DISUSED Victorian primary school is to be transformed into 'luxury' apartments, it has been revealed.

Pendle Borough Council approved plans for the Barnoldswick building, which dates back to 1883, in 2018.

Building work has now begun and the first of the new apartments will be ready to move in to by the summer.

Sarah Barraclough, managing director of Skipton Properties, the developers behind the project, said: “As with all our developments, we saw a unique opportunity to breathe life into this beautiful historic building. It’s a mainstay of the Barnoldswick community, and we want it to remain part of the local landscape for future generations.

“Our mission is to create beautiful homes that work with the natural rhythm of their surroundings, fusing traditional values and craftsmanship with modern-day living. This has never been more true than with this latest development, which we’re excited to launch in the coming season.”

There will be a mix of one and two bedroom apartments available and prices will start at around £75,000.
