Hundreds joined in holi celebrations as the Gujarat Hindu Society hosted events at their Preston Temple.
After the religious ceremony a bonfire was set a ight by the president Dashrathbhai Nayee who said, "All the women present performed the spiritual ceremony and once the bonfire was properly lit coconuts were thrown on sides and allowed to bake.
"Young and old had brought colours to put on each other. The atmosphere was one of happiness. It just happened to be that on the holi day it was also International Happiness Day.
"People stayed on till late to join the burning fire and were also able to participate in a service at the temple.
"We were also very pleased to welcome Graham Liver from Radio Lancashire."
Holi is celebrated for two reasons- The coming of spring and to overcome good over evil.
