A SIDE-splitting night of entertainment is coming to a Bury pub tonight at the borough's hottest new comedy night.

Two Tubs is hosting the first of its new weekly Tuesday evening comedy shows from 7.30pm.

The show will feature headline act Mick Ferry, who has been named the comedians' favourite comedian in the UK twice, and surrealist comedian 'Nige'; all be compered by Danny McLoughlin.

The night is the brainchild of Two Tubs' new landlord John Locke who is the former marketing manager at Manchester's Comedy Store.

Over five years in the role Mr Locke helped to produce and develop the Manchester Comedy Festival.

Mr Locke has also previously worked with comedians John Bishop, Sarah Millican, Russell Brand and Paddy McGuinness, and produced Alan Carr's show at the Deans Gate Locks venue for four years.

After cutting his teeth at the world's best known comedy club Mr Locke went into comedy theatre alongside Jason Manford with "The Laugh Inn" event in Chester.

He is now trying to inject new energy, attitude and events into the Bury town centre pub.

Mr Locke said: 'I love comedy and have begun this night with three of my personal favourites.

"Danny the compere was my booker and pal at the club in Chester and it's my pleasure to be back working with him at the Two Tubs Funny Nights.

"Expect some big surprise guests dropping by over the next few months too."

He added: "We have an amazing facility at the pub, with our back room and events space. I don't think it has been used to its best in the past and we are going to be programming all kinds of live music, talks, comedy, film nights too.

"Bury is a great town with a thriving and growing arts scene and we want to be a part of this, alongside and sitting somewhat on the coat tails of a great theatre and art space like The Met, and continue to bring something different to the town centre.

"The room is one of the best small comedy rooms I have seen in the country too."

Tickets priced £7 are available at the pub and from the Two Tubs Facebook page, or priced £10 on the door.
